CAD data handling

Engineers are right to ask where their model data goes before letting any tool touch it. This page describes Drafton’s data path in plain terms.

Drafton runs on your machine

Drafton is a native Autodesk® Inventor® add-in. It reads your active document — features, parameters, faces, geometry — locally, on your computer. There is no cloud upload of your files to use the product.

Where model context goes: directly to Anthropic, with your key

To reason about a change, Drafton sends the relevant model context to Anthropic’s API. That request is made directly from your machine using your own Anthropic API key(bring-your-own-key). It does not pass through Hunter Miodek Technologies’ servers — we operate no proxy and never receive your model data.

Anthropic’s handling of that data is governed by your agreement with Anthropic. Anthropic states that data submitted through its API is not used to train its models by default; review Anthropic’s current commercial terms for the authoritative statement.

What we never receive

• Your .ipt / .iam / drawing files.
• Your geometry, parameters, or model content.
• The contents of your AI requests or responses.

Checkpoints stay local

Before applying a change, Drafton writes a local .bakcheckpoint so any edit can be rolled back. These backups live on your machine; nothing is uploaded to us.

Diagnostics contain no model data

Optional, errors-only crash diagnostics (disabled unless configured) capture technical error information to help us fix bugs. They are not used to collect your CAD data, model content, or AI request contents.
